Overview

Screen Video Creator is a Chrome extension that generates explainer videos from screen captures or uploaded images. It operates primarily on your local machine and is designed to minimize data collection.

Data Collection

This extension does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to us. We do not operate any servers, analytics, or tracking services.

Data Processing

The following data is processed locally or sent to third-party services at your direction:

• Screenshots and uploaded images are captured or loaded locally in your browser. When you click "Analyze with Claude," images are sent to your local Node.js server and then forwarded to the Anthropic API for analysis. Images are not stored on any remote server.
• Anthropic API key is stored in Chrome's local storage on your device. It is sent only to your locally running server and to the Anthropic API. We never receive or have access to your API key.
• Rendered videos are generated and stored entirely on your local machine.

Third-Party Services

This extension integrates with the Anthropic Claude API for image analysis. When you use the analysis feature, your images and optional text instructions are sent to Anthropic's servers. Anthropic's use of this data is governed by their privacy policy and terms of service.

Local Server

The extension communicates with a Node.js server running on your local machine (localhost:8787). This server:

• Runs entirely on your computer
• Forwards image data to the Anthropic API at your request
• Renders videos locally using Remotion
• Does not send data to any other external service

Permissions

The extension requests the following permissions:

• activeTab / tabs — to capture the visible tab when you click "Capture Current Screen"
• storage — to save your API key locally in Chrome
• host_permissions (localhost) — to communicate with the local render server
• host_permissions (all_urls) — to capture screenshots from any webpage you choose

Data Retention

No data is retained by us. Screenshots and rendered videos remain on your local machine until you delete them. Your API key remains in Chrome's local storage until you clear it or uninstall the extension.

Children's Privacy

This extension is not directed at children under the age of 13.

Changes

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
